TSS 482 Visa Streams

The TSS visa comprises three main streams:

Short-Term Stream

The short-term stream addresses labour shortages, allowing skilled workers to fill positions that local talent cannot cover. Duration of stay is up to 2 years, with the possibility to extend for another 2 years.

This visa is typically for employers to source temporary overseas skilled workers in occupations included on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) and employ them for a maximum of two years (or up to four years if an international trade obligation applies).

Medium-Term Stream

This allows employers to source overseas skilled workers for occupations included on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL) for up to four years, with eligibility to apply for permanent residence after three years.

This stream is designed for medium-term labour shortages. With a stay period of up to 4 years, it provides a longer solution to labour requirements.

Labour Agreement Stream

The Labour Agreement stream is for skilled workers nominated by employers with a Labour Agreement with the Australian Government. Stay duration depends on the terms in the labour agreement.

This is available if your employer has entered into a labour agreement with the Department of Home Affairs.
